At The Luma Learners, our rooms are thoughtfully designed to support each child’s age, stage and development. Across every learning space, we combine nurturing care, play-based learning and intentional teaching to help children feel safe, confident and ready to grow.
Nursery
6 weeks – 2 years
Why its important
The first two years of life are a time of rapid growth, connection and discovery. In our Nursery, babies are cared for in a calm, nurturing environment where individual routines are respected and learning begins through responsive relationships, sensory exploration and movement.

In the Nursery, we focus on building the foundations for lifelong learning by supporting:

Key Word Signing (KWS)
Support early communication using signs and spoken language.
Infant Motor Stimulation: Through guided tummy time, positioning and movement experiences, we support strength, coordination, body awareness and physical milestones in a gentle, responsive way.
Toddlers
2 – 3 years
Why its important
Toddlerhood is a stage full of movement, curiosity, emotion and growing independence. In our Toddler room, children are supported as they explore relationships, build confidence and begin to understand themselves and the world around them.
What children learn
Our toddler curriculum focuses on four key areas:
- Language development
- Problem-solving
- Independence
- Risk-taking and physical development
How we support growth
- Storytelling, singing and small group learning
- Opportunities to investigate and solve problems
- Self-help experiences like hand washing and self-serving at mealtimes
- Movement-rich environments for climbing, balancing and exploring

Key Word Signing (KWS)
Continuing to build communication using signs and spoken language.
Messy Play: Our sensory-based messy play experiences help toddlers explore new textures and materials while building fine motor skills, hand strength and confidence.
K3
3 – 4 years
Why its important
Our 3 Year Old Kinda (K3) program supports children as they become more independent learners, curious thinkers and active participants in group learning. This stage focuses on inquiry, collaboration and building the skills that support early school readiness
What children learn
In K3, children begin strengthening:
- Early literacy and numeracy
- Language and communication
- Confidence in group learning
- Social and emotional skills
- Independence and self-regulation
How we support growth
- Mark-making, pre-writing and early numeracy activities
- Counting, sorting and pattern recognition
- Structured and unstructured play
- Mat sessions and small group learning

Above & Beyond Learning
Jolly Phonics: Songs, actions & playful learning experiences for letter recognition, sound awareness, reading & writing skills.
Garden to Plate: Growing, caring and preparing food to build life skills & healthy habits.
Community Connection: Regular walks & park visits to explore & connect with our local community.
K4
4 – 5 years
Why its important
Our 4Year Old Kinda (K4) program helps children prepare for the transition to primary school while still honouring the importance of play, curiosity and child-led learning. We focus on building academic foundations alongside confidence, resilience and independence
What children learn
In K4, children are supported to develop:
- Deeper thinking and problem-solving
- Early literacy and numeracy skills
- Emotional regulation and resilience
- Independence and responsibility
- Confidence for the transition to school
